SECTION 1 DESIGN USING BIM
Over the last few years, VNII Galurgii JSC has been consistently implementing Building Information Modelling (BIM) technology. We have passed the way of applying this technology from pilot projects to the projects of the current production programme.
BIM technology is applied at all design stages, which allows creating digital information models (DIM) and transferring them to the Customer for use at further stages of the life cycle of capital construction facilities.
We have experience in developing DIMs for both newly constructed facilities and facilities to be reconstructed or re-equipped.
During the design stage, the DIM is used to exchange tasks between project participants, perform engineering and estimating calculations, check for DIM information and geometric collisions, create drawing views and report forms, etc.
Specialists of practically all design disciplines are involved in performing work within the framework of information modelling projects.
Implementation of BIM projects is carried out using domestic software in a single information space.
To work on projects using BIM technology, we have developed an internal knowledge base in the form of norms and instructions, and we use templates and settings that significantly increase the level of automation in obtaining technical documentation on the basis of a digital information model.
To create the DIM of the designed facility, component libraries containing parametric components, material catalogues and other elements have been developed and adapted to the project tasks.
SECTION 2 LASER SCANNING
The company has been actively using laser scanning technologies (LS).
Scanning is performed using ground-based and handheld laser scanners, which allow obtaining a highly accurate model of the object in the form of a point cloud in a short period of time.
The laser scanning data is used to model the DIM, which contains detailed spatial and geometric information about the object.
The developed DIM serves as a basis for reconstruction projects, technical re-equipment and other works carried out by various departments of the institute, and can also be used in the operation of the capital construction facility on the Customer’s side.
